Heritage Consulting Group Awarded Best Conversion for Chicago's First JW Marriott Hotel

Heritage Consulting Group is pleased to announce that one of its projects, located at 208 S. LaSalle Street in Chicago’s Financial District, has received the Best Conversion Award from Chicago’s Friends of Downtown Best of Downtown 2010.

Heritage served as the historic rehabilitation and tax credit consultant on behalf of The Prime Group for the redevelopment of this 1914 former Continental & Commercial National Bank building into a luxurious, 610-room, JW Marriott Hotel.  JW Marriott’s reputation as the Marriott Company’s high-end, luxury-driven brand parallels the spacious and opulent neo-classical building.

The $396 million, approximately 21-acre rehabilitation, features sweeping staircases and a large vaulted ceiling in the main ballroom which was formerly the bank lobby.  This redevelopment is particularly noteworthy as one of the largest tax credit projects in the history of the federal Historic Preservation Tax Incentives program, and as being the last design of prominent architect Daniel H. Burnham. 2011 Friends of Downtown Awards

The Former Meier & Frank Department Store Has Been Honored With National Historic Preservation Awards

The National Trust for Historic Preservation has awarded Portland Oregon’s beloved Meier & Frank department store a 2009 National Preservation Honor Award.  Rehabilitation of the 15-story full block building into a 331 room five-star luxury hotel and ground floor retail utilized a mixture of modern green technology and preservation of iconic architectural characteristics. “Thanks to tireless work by an array of public agencies, private-sector partners, and visionary architects and consultants, what was once the biggest building in Oregon has been reborn” said Richard Moe, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  Furthermore, the American Institute of Architecture Portland chapter has awarded the former department store with a 2009 AIA Design Award.
