Portland , Oregon
Cost: $130,000,000 | Previous Use: Department Store | Current Use: Hotel and Department Store

Project Details

The Portland Development Commission spearheaded a $160 million redevelopment of Portland’s downtown Meier & Frank Department Store.  Occupying a full city block, the 13-story building was Oregon’s largest building.  The redevelopment project included retaining the department store (now Macy’s) on the lower five floors and constructing Oregon’s first six star hotel, The Nines operated by Sage Hospitality, on the upper floors.  Heritage served first as consultant to the Development Commission and later as the historic preservation consultant to the project.
